Deputies hostile to “teleconsultation” packages

The Ramsay group of private clinics has been offering a monthly package at 11.90 euros for several months, which gives access to teleconsultations 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

The deputies of the Social Affairs Commission showed this Wednesday their hostility to the “teleconsultation” packages such as the one offered by the Ramsay group of private clinics, calling to remain “vigilant” in the face of the risk of uberization of medicines.

Ramsay has been offering a monthly plan at 11.90 euros for several months, which gives access to teleconsultations 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The plan is not reimbursed by Social Security, but prescriptions are, under the same title as a regular query. .

This offer has been accused of contributing to the creation of bi-tier medicine, and of depriving its subscribers of doctors’ available time, when they can no longer meet all the demand for care.

Only 47 subscriptions

“We don’t want this type of offer to develop and I ask that it stop,” said Pierre Dharréville (PCF, Bouches-du-Rhône), co-speaker with Stéphanie Rist (Ensemble, Loiret) of a “flash mission on the offer of Ramsay.

“If this offer were to continue, we should quickly see what we should do in this area,” he added.

The brief report by Pierre Dharréville and Stéphanie Rist, supported by all the deputies present during their presentation, points out in any case that Ramsay’s offer was “a commercial failure”, with only 47 active subscriptions as of June 29, 2023. However , this report distinguishes this offer from teleconsultation in general.

“We cannot say that the teleconsultation is not of interest”, estimated Stéphanie Rist.

The general rapporteur of the Committee on Social Affairs has not ruled out the possibility of making the ceiling for teleconsultation time more flexible for certain specialties.

Currently this ceiling is set at 20% for all doctors, while certain specialties such as psychiatry lend themselves better than others to this modality of exercise.

“What seems important to me is that face-to-face exercise should be the majority”, for a doctor, said Stéphanie Rist.
