The number of job declarations for more than a month (excluding temporary workers) increased slightly by 0.6% in the second quarter, Urssaf said on Thursday. In the previous quarter, the number of job declarations fell by 1.1%. The increase in the second quarter is mainly due to hiring with fixed-term contracts of more than one month (+1% after -1%), permanent contracts remained almost stable (+0.2% after – 1.3%), specifies Urssaf. in a press release.
In one year, declarations of contracts of more than a month fell by 1.9%, after the joint decrease in contracts with a fixed-term contract of more than a month (-2.4%) and those with an indefinite contract ( -1.4%). However, its level is still 13.4% higher than in the last quarter of 2019, just before the outbreak of the Covid crisis.
Strong increases in small businesses and in industry
In the second quarter of 2023, the increase in hiring declarations of more than one month was more pronounced in companies with fewer than 20 employees (+1.1% after -3%) than in larger ones (+0 .2% after +0.1%).
By sectors, declarations of hiring of more than one month increased more especially in construction (+1.3% after -3.5%) and in industry (+1% after -5.5%). They are almost stable in the tertiary sector (+0.3%, after -1.5%). Compared to the last quarter of 2019, they increased strongly in industry (+14.9%) and in the tertiary sector (+12.9%) and remained almost stable in construction (+0.3%).
