Dubai airport, the territorial asset of the Emirates company

Dubai International Airport recorded a 50% increase in passengers in the first quarter compared to last year. A dynamism that drives the results of the local company, Emirates.

An important fleet, an incomparable quality of service, but above all an international center at the crossroads of several continents as a base of operations. With 66 million passengers, Dubai’s airport was the busiest in the world last year, a strong point for flag carrier Emirates.

260 destinations served

Serving Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East -260 destinations in total and close to 100 companies- Dubai is indeed one of the essential airports. It is true that pre-crisis levels are still a long way off – 86 million passengers in 2019 passed through Dubai, after a record 89 million in 2018 – but the first half suggests a bumper harvest for 2023. Almost 42 million passengers They have already crossed paths in Dubai.

This momentum also led management to revise its year-end forecasts. It is expected that 85 million passengers pass through this veritable center of tourism and commerce with its luxury hotels, its shops open 24 hours a day and its business centers.

A second airport in Dubai

The Emirati company reigns there with its fleet of around a hundred A380s, enough to take full advantage of this dynamic. Between June and August alone, the company transported a total of almost 14 million passengers, a record.

The emirate authorities have no intention of staying there. Since 2010, the emirate has had a second airport, AL Maktoum International Airport. What happens in another dimension. The goal is to make it the world’s largest airport by 2050. Al Maktoum International Airport could then accommodate 250 million passengers a year. A pharaonic project, of 33 billion dollars.
