More than 61% of the Spanish electricity supply was restored tonight on Monday, April 28 after the giant collapse that hit the Iberian Peninsula, according to the Manager of the Spanish Electricity Network Ree. A little earlier, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez had advanced the figure in 50%, specifying that he still does not know when the entire national network would be operational again.
“The objective is to continue restoring the supply in the next few hours, during the night”, in particular thanks to the resicted gas and hydroelectric power plants and the sending of electricity from France and Morocco, said Pedro Sánchez during a television statement made shortly before the 11 PM of the Palais de la Moncloa, the official residence of the prime minister.
The socialist leader, who once again praised the work of the state agents deployed in the field, said that “not being able to say with certainty” at this stage when the Spanish electricity supply would be completely restored.
“Without hypothesis” about the cause of breakdown
With respect to the origin of this giant breakdown, which began around 12:30 pm, the head of government said again that “no hypothesis” was “excluded”, the specialists they had at this stage “have not yet determined” the cause of the court.
What is certain is that “never” had been a “collapse” of the Spanish network, the prime minister continued, specifying that “15 gigawatts” of electricity had suddenly “lost” in the Spanish network, all “in just five seconds.”
