“I am very worried about our automotive industry. If we do not react quickly and firmly, the sector can be scraped from the map in a few years,” said Bruno Le Maire, auditioned on Thursday, June 12 by the Investigation Commission of the National Assembly on the brakes to reindustrialization.
“It is urgent to allow our industry to be in the race,” warned the former Minister of the Economy, in particular asking “to rethink the European strategy” that especially provides the European prohibition of selling new thermal cars of 2035.
However, it is said that Bruno Maire “is not favorable to the outbreak of the date of 2035”, but supplies “open the options”, particularly in the rechargeable hybrid of which sales are progressing. At this stage, the legislation establishes the prohibition of its sale in ten years.
Restrict China
The former minister also supported the need for a team change against China, now, with much, the world car leader. “To maintain our automotive industry (…), we will have no choice but to take Chinese manufacturers to France. But they must come in our conditions,” he said.
Specifically, “we will have to impose on Chinese manufacturers what China has imposed on European manufacturers in the twentieth century, I am thinking in particular of joint companies, technological transfers and local content clauses. We must copy them and inspire them from them,” the former minister continued, now a strategic advisor for ASML, the flag of skillful semiconductors.
Bruno Le Maire had tried to attract Byd to France when he was still in Bercy, without success. The Chinese manufacturer, now the world number 1 in Electric, has been established especially in Hungary, where the Viktor Orban government is much less demanding.
Before the deputies of the Commission, the former Minister of the Economy finally supported the stability of the regulations, the abolition of the contribution of the added value of the companies (CVAE) of the social contribution of the solidarity of the companies (C3), two taxes on the companies. He also said he was in favor of the disappearance of the National Public Debate Commission (CNDP).
