As the return to school approaches, around three million families will benefit from the subsequent allocation (ARS). Given under resources, the ARS is paid every year for family allocation funds (CAF) or Agricultural Social Mutuality (MSA) for those that depend on the agricultural regime, to the most modest families to help them pay for the purchases of the various school supplies.
• Who are Ars’s beneficiaries?
Ars is granted to families with at least one child in a public or private establishment, in learning or in a specialized host establishment. Parents who have chosen education at home cannot benefit from Ars, unless their child has correspondence courses.
The Ars payment is conditioned to the annual financial resources of the family. For the beginning of the 2025 school year, it is the income of the year 2023 that serve as a reference for the payment of the ARS. These annual income should not exceed:
- 28,444 euros for a dependent child,
- 35.008 euros for two dependent children,
- 41,572 euros for three dependent children,
- Then 6,564 euros per additional child.
“If the household resources are very little exceeded, perhaps they can claim a differential assignment of return to school, also calculated compared to their income,” said the site of the French administration, asking interested families to consult with their CAF or their MSA.
• What are concerned with children?
Ars applies to children from 6 to 18 years old, as well as children under six who are already registered on PC. For the beginning of the 2025 school year, this specifically concrete to children born between September 16, 2007 and December 31, 2019.
• How much does the AR cost in 2025?
The amount of Ars varies according to the child’s age. For the beginning of the 2025 school year, the Ars amount amounts to 423.48 euros for a child from 6 to 10 years, 446.85 euros for a child from 11 to 14 and 462.33 euros for a child aged 15 to 18.
This amount differs in the MayoTte archipelago, where it also falls at school: for the next school year, it has 425.60 euros for a child in primary school, 449.09 euros at the University and 464.65 euros in high school.
• What are the necessary steps?
If the family is already beneficiary of CAF or MSA, and the child is 6 to 15 years old, the ARS is paid automatically without any approach to complete. Note: If the child is under 6 years old and is already returning to CP at the beginning of the 2025 school year, it is necessary to send a school certificate to benefit from Ars.
If the child is between 16 and 18, that is, those born between September 16, 2007 and December 31, 2009 inclusive, parents will have to declare their children’s education to benefit from Ars. This approach is carried out in line with the CAF in question or the MSA, through the personal web space or the application.
• When will it be paid?
For the next school year, the payment of the allocation after school (ARS) to the families in question has already begun since Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in Meeting and Mayotte. It will begin this Tuesday, August 19, 2025 in Continental France, as well as in Guyana, Martinica and Guadalupe.
Note: Parents who need to justify the schooling of children from 16 to 18 years old, can be paid a little later for these children, during the months of September or October, if the family has not carried out the necessary steps for the beginning of the school year.
And elsewhere abroad?
The Saint-Martin community is covered by the CAF of Guadalupe, which sets the same resource ceilings and pays the same amounts for the ARS. Regarding the neighboring island of Saint-Barthélemy, family services are provided there by the local Social Provision Fund (CPS), which applies the same roofs and the same amounts as in Continental France.
In the Saint-Pierre-Et-Malalon archipelago, family services are also administered by the local Social Provision Fund (CPS), but ceilings and amounts differ from the metropolis. For the beginning of the 2025 school year, the ARS amounts to 425.60 euros for a child from 6 to 10 years, 449.09 euros from 11 years to 14 years and 464.65 euros from 15 to 18 years. Resource roofs amount to 31,058 euros for a child, 39,210 euros for two children than 7,352 euros per additional child.
In Nueva Caledonia, in French Polynesia, as well as in Wallis-Et-Futuna, family benefits depend on local regimes, which establish their own rules in terms of allocation back to school.
