More than 70,000 euros to study in HEC: registration fees fly in business schools

The registration fees are now exceeding the 60,000 euros bar in several large business schools, even 70,000 euros for their most prestigious, has Paris.

While the beginning of the school year is approaching, some students will have to pay much more than others. In business schools, registration fees have been flying for several years and now exceed records.

Ha Paris crossed the 70,000 euros mark in 2025. At the beginning of the 2025 school year, the prestigious business school, installed on its campus in Jouy-en-Jose, claims the registration fees of up to 71,750 euros throughout the curriculum, against 67,400 euros (+6%) the previous year, as reported by a main study. Ten years before, in 2015, the registration fees to enter made were still limited to 41,250 euros.

For this same school year 2025, Essec (60,300 euros, +4%), ESCP (65,300 euros, +5%), Edhec (60,880 euros, +5%) and EM Lyon (61,100 euros, +4%) now exceed the threshold of 60,000 euros for their tweets throughout the course. These five establishments, which often occupy the 5 best places in the classifications of business schools, have doubled their registration rates in fifteen years, according to Challenge magazine.

+1.7% for university costs

In general, the increase in registration rates was between 3% and 16% in 2025 in business schools after preparation, according to Major Prepa, and only three schools (INSEEC, EM Strasbourg and Brest) did not increase them. The schools are justified by a captured effect of inflation, a better remuneration of teachers and the stagnation of the student’s workforce, reports the challenges.

This increases more widely refers to higher education. According to UNEF’s annual report on the cost of students’ living, university registration rates increased by around 1.7% at the beginning of the 2025 school year. They attend 283 euros on a average of license, then 359 euros in mastery and 502 euros in doctorate. This represents an increase of approximately 37.7% since 2017, according to students’ union calculations.
