A “fair” and “balanced” reform. This Saturday at France Inter, Elisabeth Borne wanted to demonstrate once again that the pension reform presented this week saves, according to her, the most modest workers.
Remember that the bill provides for a gradual increase to 64 years of the legal retirement age and the acceleration of the extension of the contribution period, which will increase to 43 years or 172 quarters in 2027, before the 2035 horizon set by the reform of Touraine. That’s one additional quarter per year.
“I cannot let it be said that this reform penalizes the most modest people”
Faced with critics who believe that the most modest workers, those who started their careers early, are the most affected, the prime minister answers, figures in favor.
And to continue: “The 40% of the most modest French are those who are most concerned about the revaluation of pensions. I cannot let it be said that this reform penalizes the most modest, it is exactly the opposite”.
“I am fully aware of what this means for some French people. What is key is whether or not we want to save our pension system through distribution,” he argued.
