While the debate on the pension reform continues, the President of the Government announced this Tuesday in the chamber that more people eligible for the ‘long career’ regime will not have to contribute for 43 years, a concession on the initial project that could win them votes on the Republican side.
Elisabeth Borne has “committed”
Long careers refer to employees who started working before the age of 21 and who have contributed four or five quarters. The President of the Government recently extended the regime to 20/21 years and said today that it will be enough for this age group to contribute 43 annuities, and not 44, to retire. Even so, in the initial reform project, employees between the ages of 16 and 18 are required to contribute for 44 years, more than the others.
In front of the deputies, Elisabeth Borne clarified the “commitment” that she assumed in the face of the contribution period limited to 43 years:
The new amendment was published by the government on the website of the National Assembly.
Those under 16 years of age will still have to contribute 44 years
If the government has stepped in for 17 years, people who worked before the age of 16 will still have to contribute 44 annuities, according to BFMTV.
Will Elisabeth Borne’s outstretched hand to LR be enough? The provision of the long races is a great concern in the field of Republicans who fight for the text to be modified on this point. The Government had already announced that it was in favor of expanding the “long career” system for employees aged 20/21. This new concession could tilt some Republican votes, which would allow the government to obtain a majority to approve its reform.
