The refuelers from all over France, in charge of supplying fuel to the planes, are called for a renewable strike starting Monday night against the pension reform project, indicated the CGT, which presents itself as the first union in the whole of this industry. .
The impact on air transport “can be immediate”, declared this Wednesday Pierre Dalles, union delegate of the CGT of the TotalEnergies Michelet site, in Toulouse: “we must declare 48 hours before the number of strikers”, he recalls, which allows the oil companies and airlines to get an idea of expected disruptions to air traffic.
“Extreme Hardship”
The appeal, decided on Tuesday, affects the companies GPA, Fas, Skytanking, Sasca, Sap, TotalEnergies, Avitair and WFS, present at the airports of Roissy, Orly, Le Bourget, Beauvais, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Tarbes , Perpignan, Nantes, Lille, Strasbourg, Rennes, Nîmes, Brest, Nice, Toussus, according to the CGT brochure. “As of March 6, all actions to interrupt or stop the shipment of airline fuels must be put in place,” says the CGT, which will be followed by other unions, according to Pierre Dalles.
The union underlines the “extreme hardship” of the profession, whose employees work in shifts, “at atypical hours and at night”, which increases the risk of contracting certain diseases. The hardship is recognized in this profession, where it is currently possible to leave five years in advance, that is, at least 55 years old, “if we exceed 31 years of shifts,” said Pierre Dalles. “The more we increase our shift work time, the sooner we will die, and it doesn’t,” he concludes.
The CGT Chemical Federation, on which the refineries but also the rechargers depend, had already called a renewable strike starting Monday night due to the “closure of the country”, but the rechargers had not yet formally transmitted this call.
