Alstom wins a contract worth more than one billion euros in the Philippines

Double blow for Alstom, which wins a new mega-contract that allows it to strengthen its leadership position in Southeast Asia. In fact, the French industrialist was chosen to participate in a large project to extend the railway network in the Philippines.

The French manufacturer will thus supply and deploy several technical and technological solutions for the “North-South Commuter Railway” program of the Manila metro. Amount of the contract owed to him: 1,100 million euros.

“Executed by a consortium led by Alstom and made up of Colas Rail (a subsidiary of the Bouygues group, editor’s note), this emblematic project will enable faster, more reliable and more sustainable mobility between the metropolis of Manila and the peri-urban areas of Luçon “, can be read in a press release. The expansion provides for 27 new stations along 110 kilometers by 2029.

The project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the contracting authority has been entrusted to Mitsubishi Heavy Industry.

“Alstom will be responsible for systems integration, signaling and telecommunications, power supply, ticketing system, platform doors, maintenance systems and depot equipment, as well as the central signaling and training post,” the group continues.

Great potential in the region

Signaling is at the heart of this contract and, for the first time in the region, Alstom will deploy a level 2 ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) signaling system, the most advanced in this field, thanks to its ETCS ( European Train Control System). ) solution.
