The American laboratory MSD (Merck in the United States) will eliminate jobs in France through a labor protection plan (PSE) in its human health activity, it said on Tuesday.
The management of MSD France gathered the unions on Tuesday in an informal meeting to present “a project to adapt the organization in France”, with the code of “elimination of 52 occupied positions”, the laboratory told AFP. This project will be officially presented next week, specifies the group, and refers to the human health division, which represents about 1,000 employees in France.
Most medical visitors
For its part, the Unsa union evokes different figures.
According to Unsa, the job cuts will mainly affect medical visitors. This decision was made in particular due to the imminent expiration of patents for certain molecules, in 2023 and 2024, “which makes it necessary to reallocate a certain amount of resources”, estimates MSD.
