Riyadh Air and Saudia order 78 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

According to the White House, the request amounts to 37,000 million dollars. Riyadh Air and Saudia have also offered options for an additional 43 aircraft.

Boeing said on Tuesday that Saudia and Riyadh Air had ordered 39,787 long-haul Dreamliners each and options for 43 more.

“This agreement is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategic plan to transform the country into a global aviation hub,” Boeing said in a statement.

Including the options, this is the fifth-largest order in value ever recorded by Boeing, which however declined to specify the quantity or how it was divided between the 787-9 and 787-10 versions.

According to the White House, the request amounts to 37,000 million dollars.

“We are particularly pleased that Boeing has finally been able to reach these agreements with Saudi Arabia after years of discussions and intense negotiations in recent months,” the White House said in a statement.

Let’s remember that Riyadh Air is the new second airline in the country. Its goal is to “launch flights to more than 100 destinations around the world by 2030,” the official SPA agency said.

Saudi Arabia intends to triple its air traffic by the end of the decade to 330 million passengers.

Last November, the authorities announced the construction of a new 57-square-kilometre airport in Riyadh, set to receive 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050.
