Attention! The following contains spoilers for the She-Hulk: lawyer Season 1 finale. Read at your own risk!
She-Hulk: lawyer closed its first season last week with a super meta and extravagant season finale. The episode produced a lot, including Marvel Studios’ robotic leader named KEVIN (whom Kevin Feige apparently was fine with) and a new member of the Hulk family. Despite all of this, some may have wondered where the lovely party girl Madisynn King is. Well, now showrunner Jessica Gao has explained why the fan-favorite character was left out of the finale.
Jessica Gao talked to TV Line about it she-hulk The Season 1 finale and indicated that she was more than aware that fans loved Madisynn and likely wanted more of the character Patty Guggenheim by the end of the season. But unfortunately, given the casting logistics, Guggenheim was ultimately unable to attend. Gao explained:
He was definitely a favorite character. but we wrote the whole season before releasing it.
Series director Kat Coiro also revealed that the finale was actually the first episode shot for the Disney + series. As previously mentioned, at the time, the show didn’t even cast Patty Guggenheim for the role of Madisynn, so there wasn’t even the slightest chance of her appearing in this final episode.
However, if the actress had landed the role earlier, things could have been different. Jessica Gao went on to admit that the writers didn’t imagine the character would become so popular, and the producer also shared her thoughts on how things would turn out if she and her team knew how much the audience would take away from. new. Wong’s character. . best friends:
We were all totally in love with the character, but never when we wrote her did we think she would be so awesome! It was only when Patty Guggenheim was cast and we saw her work that we said, “Ohhh, this is going to be a great character: Madisynn’s Supremacy.” But if I had known that she was Patty Guggenheim all along, she surely would have been not only in the finale, but in other episodes.
Praise from Jessica Gao could indicate that Madisynn may have more coming to the MCU, especially if the show returns for another season. Although she didn’t have a scene in the Season 1 finale, she developed her character enough to solidify her position in a future season or even one of the upcoming Marvel movies. Her unexpected but incredible friendship with Wong could eventually lead her to a point where she becomes a permanent fixture in the Doctor Strange franchise, and Kamar-Taj casually shows up to watch TV shows with her favorite Sorcerer Supreme or just to pick up. a drink. . Vodka. with yak milk.
And while there’s no place for Madisynn in the big MCU, she looks like a character tailored for future appearances in she-hulk. And given the half nature of the show, if it reappears out of nowhere, Jen can just look at the camera and say, “Hey, you wanted it,” before the story continues. (The show really thrived on this by explaining the situation with the Hulk’s human form.) I’m sure the show’s creative team could find a clever way to bring Patty Guggenheim’s character back. Let’s hope he returns somehow and the show is renewed for a second season.
Anyone with a Disney + subscription can and should definitely stream Season 1’s She-Hulk: lawyer if they haven’t already. And keep an eye out for other upcoming Marvel TV shows.
