The horror genre has been in the midst of a renaissance for years now, with some of the best horror movies returns to theaters with new sequels / reboots. This trend is partly due to the great success of 2018 Halloween , which was developed into a complete trilogy by director David Gordon Green. David Gordon Green was questioned about this departure during an interview with uh reply with:
I wanted to get a new perspective on Michael Myers, Laurie Strode and the family, and I wanted to bring in a new central character to be an essential exploration of those characters and the city. We had seen the story of a stalker and we had seen many ways the trauma affected Laurie Strode, but I really wanted to see how it affected the city.
Here. While 2018 Halloween Focusing entirely on the trauma of Laurie and her family, the next two sequels showed how the town of Haddonfield was affected by the massacres. Later, in his own chat with EW, David Gordon Green went into more detail as to why Halloween kills put so much emphasis on the new character Corey. He shared where his head was as a director regarding this unexpected plot point, saying:
Introducing a new Corey Cunningham character and first discovering his immediate trauma in our open cold, then how it affects him, then how an encounter with our already established evil could become contagious. It is a study of the contagion of these negative entities that are in our lives. If left unchecked, they spread. If we can understand them and be our hero, then maybe we will have a fighting chance.
When Laurie Strode wrote her book in end of halloween, narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, explains how Michael Myers was still an infection that the town of Haddonfield was battling, despite being missing for several years. We’ve seen suicides, murders and (of course) how the city turned on Corey and branded him as a psychopath. The time jump of the film. shows how years of that tag impacted the newcomer, ultimately leading to the violent events that occur when Michael Myers returns.
