Guillermo del Toro quickly expressed his appreciation for Stephen King’s work. For example, the writer / director officially stated that he would “kill” him for the opportunity to make his own big screen adaptation of the beloved 1983 novel. animal cemetery. It turns out that love is a two-way street, as King is also a fan of Del Toro, and gives the director the hat after checking out Netflix’s new horror anthology series. Cabinet of curiosities by Guillermo del Toro.
The new streaming show is now available to stream (provided you have a Netflix membership), but Stephen King hit screens first for the show and gave it a rave review on his personal account. Twitter page. She specifically recommends checking it out and compliments the horror, tone and aesthetics. Check out his Tweet below:
I highly recommend opening Guillermo del Toro’s CABINET DE CURIOSITÉS, starting tomorrow on Netflix. Scary, sinister and beautiful to look at.October 24, 2022
Cabinet of curiosities by Guillermo del Toro is essentially the writer / director’s version of The twilight zone This is Alfred Hitchcock presentsand features eight horror stories directed by some of the most exciting directors working in the horror genre today, including Jennifer Kent (the babadoo), Panos Cosmatos (mandy) and Ana Lilla Amirpour (A girl comes home alone at night). None of the episodes are based on the stories of Stephen King, but two of the directors have experience in this area: Vincenzo Natali, who directed the Netflix movies. in the tall grassand Keith Thomas, who directed the new adaptation of fire starter.
Guillermo del Toro did not personally direct any of the episodes, but he developed the stories for two of them (specifically the first and eighth).
In case you’re wondering if this is something unique to Stephen King, it’s not. The author has been a longtime fan of Guillermo del Toro, as evidenced by his reaction when he came to see the 2015 one. crimson beak for the first time:
I was invited to a screening of Guillermo del Toro’s new film, CRIMSON PEAK, this weekend. Beautiful and fucking terrifying.March 16, 2015
This leads me to think about two questions: 1) What does Guillermo del Toro need to direct a Stephen King adaptation, even if it’s not another version? animal cemetery? 2) If there is a second season of Cabinet of curiosities by Guillermo del Toro, could one of King’s many short stories be used as a source? I would say the answer to the last question is more in the air, but like the first one, it would be great to try and create a widescreen version of Renaissance (and hopefully his Oscar-winning influence will take the project beyond Josh Boone and Mike Flanagan’s attempts.)
While we wait for something to happen on any of these fronts, fans can be thrilled with all the possibilities as they watch all eight episodes of Cabinet of curiosities by Guillermo del Toro on Netflix.
