Sylvester Stallone created some of the most memorable characters in action movie history, but his most important role was undoubtedly Rocky Balboa. Stallone wrote, directed and performed the first Rocky film, which was a critical and public success. Rocky has become a huge franchise, of which Stallone apparently does not own any part.
Stallone starred in six Rocky films, and has appeared in two of the most recent I believe movie, but the actor admitted a few years ago that while he created Rocky, he didn’t even own a part of the character. YesTallone has fulfilled his desire to have even a small percentage Rocky known publicly, but the actor said recently THR who never expects to get any of the rights. Stallone explained …
No. That will never happen. It was a deal that was made without my knowledge by people who I thought were close to me and basically gave up any rights I might have had. At the time, I was so excited to work and didn’t understand it was a business. Who knew Rocky would go on for another 45 years? I’ve never used one [line of dialogue] No one else, and the irony is that I don’t own any. People who literally did nothing are checking it out.
When he invented Sylvester Stallone Rocky he was basically a stranger in Hollywood, and he said that in order to make the film and make it the way he wanted, he basically had to do what the studio wanted him to do.
In a post on social media last summer Stallone chases producer Irwin Winkler rather harsh as it would not give up certain rights. Stallone says here that there was apparently an interest in making another one Rocky film and asked for a share of the rights in the future as part of the deal. It seems that an agreement could not be reached.
following I believe II Sylvester Stallone has announced that he has officially stopped playing Rocky Balboa, and while at the time it looked like the actor was just ready to reattach his sleeve, here seems to be the main reason why Rocky won’t be returning. I believe III it has more to do with Stallone not wanting to continue playing the role and building the franchise for the current rights holders if he’s not part of it.
As Stallone says, then there was no way of knowing Rocky it would become a cultural milestone and become a huge franchise. Stallone definitely made some money with Rocky, the fact that Stallone was paid for his work seems to be the main argument for those who currently own the rights to the character. But Rocky definitely worth a lot of money, and with the I believe franchising continues next year I believe IIIYes speaks of a series derived from Drago apparently it will only grow from here.
