A music festival in Sweden decided to cancel a concert of the Swedish rapper Yasin this Friday, May 30, after the media information reported by a murder project addressed to the artist, the organizers said.
Yasin Mahamoud, known as his artist Yasin, has millions of listening to Spotify and has been several times in the Swedish stops.
Described by the Swedish news agency TT as one of the “most controversial rappers, but also the most influential in Sweden”, was sentenced to 10 months in prison in 2021 for his role in the kidnapping of a rival artist, Einar, who was shot dead later in the year.
Two arrested men
Yasin’s performance at the Brännbollsyran Music Festival, in the city of Umea (North), this Friday, May 30, would have formed the artist’s first concert in Sweden for nine years.
But according to the Daily Actonbladet, the police arrested two young people suspected of being involved in a murder project addressed to the rapper on the occasion of the concert scheduled for Friday. The organizer said he had decided to cancel the concert “based on a complete evaluation in collaboration with the police.”
“The reason is the concern of visitors and the staff in relation to the information reported by the media, which has made its performance impossible,” writes Brännbollsyran in an Instagram publication.
The safety of visitors and staff is a priority and the festival “will also continue as planned,” added the organizer.
Yasin was appointed artist of the year and hiphop/rnb artist of the year during the P3 Guldgalan awards, organized by the Swedish public radio, in 2021. In April, the Dagens newspaper, etc., said that another concert of Yasin in Stockholm, scheduled for September of last year, was also canceled after the police had warned the organizer of their security concerns of their security concerns.
