Olivier Norek received the Jean Giono Award for this work, which had also been selected from the first selection of 16 novels of the Goncourt Award and the five finalists of the Renaudot Award.
The 49-year-old author is a former Seine-Saint-Denis police officer. After choosing the realistic detective novel, a genre with which he tried to frustrate the clichés in the “hard” suburbs, went to the historical novel with this title.

Today, “I have a book in gestation: I have the subject, I have to go into documentation,” he told AFP.
But “for the moment, I am working on series and movies, I am very busy,” he said outside a press conference that presents the series SurfaceTaken from one of his Thrillers and will be broadcast by France Télévisions in the coming months.
