American rapper Kanye West, mired in a series of controversies, has suggested that he would be a candidate for the 2024 presidential election and claimed to have offered Donald Trump to be his running mate.
The artist, who goes by the name Ye, posted a series of videos to his Twitter account overnight from Thursday to Friday, along with the “Ye 24” logo.
In one, the 45-year-old rapper recalls a conversation he had with former President Donald Trump, who announced his candidacy for the 2024 US election.
“I asked him to be my vice president,” Ye said, assuring that Donald Trump “started yelling at him.” The music and fashion troublemaker had already embarked on an unlikely bid for the 2020 US election, collecting just 70,000 votes.
At the center of a series of controversies
The 45th president of the United States confirmed on Friday that he had dined with the rap star at his Florida residence, but said the meal was “quick” and “quiet.”
At the center of a series of controversies, Ye has been heavily criticized in recent weeks for wearing a T-shirt bearing the anti-racist slogan “Black Lives Matter” and for posting comments on Instagram and Twitter denounced as anti-Semitic.
His former partner Adidas also announced Thursday that it was opening an investigation after group employees accused the rapper of sexual misconduct and intimidation.
