And one more album for Jul. Although he has just been crowned the most listened to artist in France in 2022 by Spotify, the prolific rapper from Marseille shared his 26th album this Friday, baptized White Heart, for which he offered himself a musical world tour.
From Italy to the Netherlands via Russia, England, Morocco and Spain, the rapper has invited 19 artists from around the world to collaborate with him. An international project with a rather original concept, to which Jul returned to the microphone of BFM Marseille.
A “suite” of 13 Organized
As regional projects of various artists 13 Organized Y Classic Organizedof which he was the initiative, Jul wishes with White Heart they offer a sequel to these previous albums to continue highlighting new territories and their talents.
“I had the idea of this album for a long time, since I had made 13 Organized. And it is a bit of a sequel,” he explains to BFM Marseille.
To select the artists for this new album -such as the Spanish rapper Morad, the Italian singer Anna or the Russian artist Feduk- Jul specifies that he proceeded out of musical affinity and contacted many talents through Instagram, his favorite platform to talk about his Projects.
“Some were doing Jul-type music, I went to listen to it and I liked it. Direct connections were made. But there are also somewhat random collaborations, people I found and loved,” she explains.
next reissue
If the talents present in White Heart they come from all over the world, many of them however wanted to travel to Marseille to record their titles with Jul. A “magical” situation, says the rapper.
“We met, for example, Rhove and Elaie, an Italian and a Swede, in the studio. We had to speak a little English, a little Italian. It changes but it’s good, it allows you to learn the language at the same time.” , joke.
Despite Jul’s ambitious and innovative risk-taking in White Heart, the rapper is an eternal malcontent. As soon as he published his album, he already set a new objective: to carry out a continuation of this project with new artists from certain countries that are still missing.
“Here I am talking to new artists. I have a German, a Corsican, a Comorian, a Romanian, a Guyanese… I still have a lot to play, that means I’m going to do a reissue only after this record with all the ones I haven’t played,” he says.
And the rapper concludes: “The next logical step would be to look even further. Why not the United States, we will look everywhere. If there are artists that I like that they answer, that they do it directly.”
