“I lost a friend who had dedicated his life to protecting wildlife in some of East Africa’s most famous national parks,” Prince William posted on Friday, a day after Mark Jenkins was killed in a plane crash, with his son Peter.
Animal welfare activist Mark Jenkins was patrolling Kenya’s Tsavo National Park on Thursday when his plane crashed.
“Tonight I am thinking of Mark’s wife, family and colleagues who have lost a man we all love and admire,” Prince William wrote.
The prince, a fervent defender of the animal cause, has visited Kenya on several occasions and has often praised the action of NGOs and governments against poaching in national parks.
On December 4, at the Earthshot Awards, an environmental award, the Prince of Wales made a hopeful call for environmental protection.
“Just as President John F. Kennedy thought humanity could put a man on the moon, today I have the same faith that we can repair and regenerate our planet in the crucial decade ahead,” he said, thus launching.
