Modern action movies often have the caveat that actors have to be in really good shape to shoot. Dwayne Johnson and a few other action stars train regularly to keep themselves in amazing shape, but others don’t like going to these extremes. Indeed, The Rock’s Baywatch co-star Zac Efron really put himself to the test get extremely fit for this movie. Turns out, maybe it wasn’t for the best.
Everyone from The Rock to Alexandria Daddario needed to get in shape Baywatch . Zac Efron has already talked about how he feels now his Baywatch the body was “stupid” because he felt it was so laborious that it had to be considered unattainable. However, in a new interview with Men’s health Efron talks more about what the job has done to him not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well, and it hasn’t been good.
I started to develop insomnia and for a long time I fell into a bad depression. Something about this experience burned me. It took me a while to refocus. Eventually, they forced him to take too many diuretics for too long, and that messed something up.
You are likely to start doing this type of work with some expectation of what it means physically, with intensive training sessions and a change in diet. Either way, Zac Efron shows there’s another aspect of being super fit for movies. Putting your body on diuretics to make it look camera-ready can have other effects on you.
Of all andfron says his training was at the extreme of what actors were doing . The actor says his abs were so great they actually looked fake, and going from beautiful to almost literally unreal abs took a lot of extra work that put a lot more strain on his body than he did. He continues…
This Baywatch look, I don’t know if it’s really doable. There is very little water on the skin. Like, that’s wrong; it looks like CGI. And to do that we needed Lasix, powerful diuretics. So I don’t need to do that. I’d rather have an extra, you know, 2-3% body fat.
While many actors train to get fit for superhero movies or other action franchises, many don’t. as hard as Zac Efron did Baywatch . In superhero movies, they sometimes even wear costumes that mostly cover their bodies, so if their abs aren’t perfect, that’s okay. Not only that, with all the CGI in these movies, if they wanted to give the stars CGI abs, they probably could.
Nobody wants to have to work so hard for a role that it really hurts them. The good news here is that Zac Efron was finally able to recover from the ordeal he was. Baywatchand now he knows what his limits are, so he will never cross them again.
