Chyler Leigh is a familiar face in television due to her long career show how super girl Yup Grey’s Anatomyand now Hallmark has given her the opportunity to play a very different kind of character. The way back is a Hallmark original series focusing on three generations of women under one roof for the first time in the Landry family. As if that weren’t enough, there will also be time travel! Ahead of the premiere, Leigh spoke to Gossipify about show business and how to make relationships believable.
The actress plays Kat Landry, who has estranged from her mother Del (played by Veteran feature Andie MacDowell ) for more than two decades. That means Kat’s teenage daughter Alice (played by Sadie Laflamme-Snow) has never met her grandmother herself and isn’t familiar with the family history behind what she finds herself in when the three women reunite. Chyler Leigh is best known for playing Dr. Lexie. Grey’s Anatomy and superhero sister Alex Danvers in super girlbut The way back it means playing a mom.
Leigh shared her experience playing a mother on a show that focused on three generations of women:
Chyler Leigh has been a mom for almost twenty years, including two teenage years, so she has a lot of real-life experience to apply to make the Kat/Alice relationship extremely believable. Of course, the actress hasn’t faced the same kind of real-life challenges as she did with Kat The way back. Although viewers will have to tune in to learn the mysteries of the Landry family, one of the first Brand overview for the show revealed that Alice will time travel to the 1990s and interact with younger versions of her family members who have no idea who she is.
Could time travel give Alice a new perspective on her mother and grandmother to help bridge the rift in the family, or is it too late for Kat and Del? Only time will tell on that front, but the wait for the new show is almost over. The way back premiering Sunday, February 15 at 9:00 PM ET on Hallmark at TV show 2023 as Chyler Leigh’s first regular role since the end of super girl in 2021. The show has received an order for a ten-episode first season.
The way back has been first announced in June 2022 as the first new television drama commissioned by Hallmark in over five years. At the time, only Andie MacDowell was attached as a star. Chyler Leigh has been announced for plays the daughter of MacDowell’s character in August 2022. She and MacDowell are both executive producing and starring in the new project.
