Working on the Anne Rice adaptation witches of Mayfair it’s been tough for Alexandra Daddario, but perhaps not for the reasons viewers might expect. Though the series is loaded with scary scenes and other disturbing imagery, the actress recently shared how she bonded over a previous bad relationship from her past. She compared it to her character Dr. Rowan Fielding and her relationship with the mysterious entity Lasher.
witches of Mayfair this only partially explains Rowan and Lasher’s dynamic, as well as Lasher’s wider connection to the Mayfair family. Although Alexandra Daddario did not reveal any spoilers in her interview with Den de Geek, she did speak about her personal struggles while filming the series. She talked about exploring Rowan’s relationship with Lasher and others, and finding attractions she shouldn’t:
What was really interesting was diving into her relationship with these men, and her attraction to what she shouldn’t be attracted to, and her attraction to the dark side. It was definitely a challenge. It has been difficult. This woman is going through all these very intense feelings and she can’t resist the hurt. I tied it up to a really bad relationship I was in so I probably had a problem with that. Because she’s that person you can’t help but go back to, even if she hurts you. She knows she hurts her and she keeps coming back. That’s not necessarily how it was meant to be played. But that was what was going through my mind as I dealt with my relationship with Lasher.
Lasher and Rowan just had their first big moment witches of Mayfair during the street parade, though it’s clear the being is very interested in connecting with her much more. Apparently, Lasher even tried to trick Rowan into thinking she was talking to her late birth mother, Deidre Mayfair, in an effort to speed up the development of their relationship. If that isn’t a red flag, I don’t know what she is.
witches of Mayfair is just one of many new shows to watch in the winter 2023 lineup.
In the witches of MayfairRowan seems conflicted with Lasher’s character, but at the same time she’s eager to get more answers about her birth family, which she recently learned the details of. Rowan can only truly find those answers by continuing to interact with the Mayfair family and staying in New Orleans, where Lasher can communicate with her. It’s certainly easy to see how history can echo a toxic relationship.
While Rowan navigates the New Orleans equivalent of a toxic relationship, it may be ironic that Alexandra Daddario married husband Andrew Form in the same city. Daddario got married in the French Quarter, and apparently the experience of working on The Big Easy inspired Daddario to choose the location.
during the recording witches of Mayfair had her struggles over Alexandra Daddario, it’s good to see the actress in another high profile series. She seems to be on the move since season one the white lotus, even if his career stopped a little earlier. Let’s hope there’s more to it than his compelling performance and that the series stays on the promising path critics talk about.
