Nobody knows what really happens when we die. Of course, many people have very strong beliefs about what is happening, and many books and movies have been written about things that people have experienced near death tragedy. I’m not here to approve or deny personal encounters of any person or group of people, but I will say that if a minister’s experience of TikTok is a true interpretation of hell, where demons sang songs including Rihanna’s hit “Umbrella”, the afterlife will be nothing as many of us expected.
Gerald Johnson, pastor of ICT Tac , went viral after he posted a 5-minute video describing an encounter he had in 2016 where he said he briefly went to hell after suffering a heart attack. Johnson described some pretty disturbing images, including a man burned from head to toe, on all fours with a chain around his neck held by a demon. He also described opening his eyes to how the devil controls people through music. In his words:
There was a section in Hell that played music, and it was the same music we heard on Earth, but unlike the artists who sang it, the music was sung by demons. And they were some of the same words we hear here.
The pastor paints a rather disturbing picture, going on to say that when people smoke to get high, they inadvertently open their minds to the spirit realm, where demons provide them with letters to pass on to people in an attempt to control them. . Gerald Johnson cited the words of Bobby McFerrin, Jazmine Sullivan and Rihanna as examples, as he continued:
The music here is for, like, getting over a breakup. ‘Don’t worry, be happy’, ‘I broke your car windows’, ‘Under my umbrella’, whatever. There, every lyric of every song must haunt them that they didn’t worship God through music when they were on Earth. It’s as if you had the opportunity to worship him in church, worship him at home, and worship him through music, but you chose to worship Satan by repeating the words he inspired to come to Earth.
Oh! Maybe it’s just me, but “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” sounds like the scariest song I can think of sung by demons. Gerald Johnson is far from the first person to equate secular music with the devil, but his call to Rihanna’s “Umbrella” comes at an interesting time, when the nine-time Grammy Award winner is just a throw away of a stone’s throw. headlining the Super Bowl LVII halftime show .
