2023 has been a turbulent year so far for the reality TV-famous Chrisley family, with father figures Todd and Julie Chrisley starting their respective sentences to years of imprisonment After both were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion . (Not to mention, USA announced in late January that a tenth season of Chrisley knows best apparently it should debut soon after apparently being cancelled .) Going by the info, the pareja spent her last days of freedom in a lugar feliz, and Savannah Chrisley launched her first captured podcast episode after it was gripping, in what she had a bit of how she loved his mother’s prison so far. .
Savannah Chrisley has undoubtedly been the most outspoken member of the family since her parents’ guilty verdict and has been critical of the justice system both on and off her podcast. In her latest work, the 25-year-old woman slightly reconsidered her anti-government stance (with her the parents’ lawyers continue to appeal for a retrial) and spent most of his time sharing that he’d been in communication with both since their incarceration. And while he knows it might sound strange, he says things are going well so far. In his words:
I will say that my mother, honestly, is doing very well. And I know she seems crazy of me to say that. It seems crazy to me to say, “Very well, they are doing very well.” But they are. My mother, she made friends. She is busy. She goes to church. She is working.
It’s been exactly two weeks since Julie and Todd Chrisley ended up in prison, with their first term at Federal FMC Lexington in Kentucky on January 17, after having to serve their sentences at Marianna Federal Correctional Facility. The latter would have brought her much closer to her husband’s current location in Florida, Pensecola federal prison camp, while the latter is also where Happiness Veteran and convicted sex offender Jerry Harris is serving his own sentence.
Presumably, Julie Chrisley will serve her entire seven-year sentence at this facility, before being released on 16 months of probation. So the ability to quickly make friends with other inmates is an undeniable plus, as is the ability to distract yourself by taking care of yourself. Considering the Chrisleys are known for their religious leanings, it makes perfect sense for the matriarch to attend prison church services.
According to Savannah Chrisley, keeping busy behind bars also involves playing a favorite family game and seemingly excelling at it. Here’s how she said it:
She plays spades. When I tell you to play, she puts a dog on everyone. Anyone who knows my family knows that Spades is our game, it’s what we play. It’s just our thing.
One can only imagine how exciting things will be the next time the family plays Spades as a full unit again, which likely won’t happen for 12 years when Todd Chrisley is due out.
Though there were teething problems, Savannah Chrisley confirmed her parents can now communicate via email, saying:
They are allowed to communicate via email, so they will email each other. They didn’t do it right away, but they are now. And that makes me so, so happy. I spoke to my dad on the phone and he was in tears because he had permission to email my mom. The amount of love and respect between the two of them is just as amazing to see as your daughter.
Savannah Chrisley understandably choked a bit and cried at various times during the podcast taping, both out of sadness about the situation and the happiness that comes with knowing that her parents are finding ways to stay happy behind bars. And fans will likely hear more emotional anecdotes in future podcast episodes.
