Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Cast on Which Legacy Characters Should Join the Show for Season 2

Minor spoilers ahead for the first two episodes of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.

Musicals are a proven genre in the world of cinema, and some projects have managed to penetrate the pop culture landscape for decades. 1978 Fat movie It’s definitely in that category, thanks to its iconic cast, beloved songs, and quotable dialogue. Example : John Travolta’s recent Super Bowl commercial . Audiences can once again return to Rydell High with the new series Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladieswhich is available to those who have a subscription to Paramount+ . And the the new star cast of the series recently spoke to Gossipify about which legacy characters from the film will be joining the fun in Season 2.

While Fat Starting off as a Broadway musical, the film adaptation is arguably more popular. Paramount + brings out all the nostalgic stops for The rise of the Pink Ladies (opens in a new tab), which takes place four years after the events of the film. The first episode featured brief roles for Frenchy and Rizzo, so what other OGs could appear as the series continues? As you can see in the video above, I had the privilege of speaking with the cast ahead of the series premiere, where I asked them who they’d like to appear in the future. Cynthia actor Ari Notartomaso offered his perspective on the possibility, sharing:

I mean everything. I can say that because I really don’t know how the rest of our seasons would go. But I’m really looking forward to it, I hope if we do more seasons at the end we’ll see more connections between the characters. How we literally arrived at the Rydell we know and love. We are on our way. There certainly are; in this season we see characters that we will meet. But not all yet.

Well, I really hope Paramount+ orders a second season of Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies. The new music series is full of easter egg and movie references , and it seems that we are still on the tip of the iceberg. As the timeline is slowly catching up with Randal Kleiser’s iconic film, we could probably see more of the T-Birds and Pink Ladies we know and love. Fingers crossed, stud.

Although T-Birds exist in The rise of the Pink Ladies, are far from the coolest gang in school, as they were when John Travolta wore the leather jacket in the 1978 film. The series introduces us to a group of new characters, who will likely set an example for Zuko, Kenickie and the others. Actor Jason Schmidt played Buddy Aldrige in the music streaming series and can’t wait to see some of the T-Birds we know and love. He as he told me:

I would like to see the T-Birds in the background of the original film. See where they come from, see their young version. Little splashes, little rugrats running around.

The points have been scored. And smart money says finding these characters on the small screen will spark those nostalgic feelings for generations of Fat fans there. French actress Madison Elizabeth Lagares mimics Didi Conn’s unique vocal cadence, while Rizzo actress Emma Shannon has some of Stockard Channing’s signature swagger.

From The rise of the Pink Ladies It takes place a few years before the events of Fat, all the characters we know and love are supposedly running. We hear very early on a reference to Sainte-Bernadettes, which is the famous school that Cha Cha DiGregorio attends. Jane’s actress, Marisa Dávila, told me about this concept and said:

They exist. They’re walking somewhere in 1954, so maybe they’ll walk straight into Frosty Palace, who knows?

We’ll have to wait and see which characters appear or are references. Smart money says we won’t see Sandy, for which he’s become famous the late actress Olivia Newton-John . After all, she was living in Australia prior to the events of the film. But who knows?

Grease: The Rise of the Pink Ladies airs new episodes every Friday on Paramount+. In the meantime, check out the List of television premieres to plan your next movie experience.
