Samu operators strike: demonstration on September 7 in front of the Ministry of Health

On strike in 75% of the territory, the Samu operators will meet on September 7 before the Ministry of Health to request, in particular, a salary “revaluation”.

Representatives of the medical regulation assistants (ARM), Samu operators on strike in three quarters of the territory to demand, in particular, a salary “revaluation”, called a meeting on September 7 in front of the Ministry of Health, they announced on Wednesday .

At the moment, “the ARMs of 73 Samu (of the 100 in France) are on indefinite strike,” according to a statement from the French Association of medical regulation assistants, one of the two main organizations for this profession.

“Having no news from Mr. (Aurélien) Rousseau, Minister of Health, Afarm calls on the ARMs to mobilize on September 7, 2023 at 11 a.m.,” in front of the ministry.

“Sold Out” ARMs

Launched on July 3, the strike is barely seen because ARM strikers, like many caregivers, are usually assigned by management. In a period of high tension in the emergencies, where the authorities recommend that patients “call 15” as the first resort, the ARMs must face a significant increase in their activity and are “exhausted”, denounces Afarm.

They demand a “recognition” of this “difficulty”, in particular through a monthly bonus of 100 euros that professionals from other emergency structures already receive, and details about the new networks promised by the authorities.

“We are short of staff, the problem is that our schools are only half full (…) Today, an ARM works day, night, weekends, somewhere he puts his life aside, for 1,300 euros”, denounced on Tuesday at BFM Lyon Alexandre Maluga. co-chairman of Afarm.

“Unfortunately we are still waiting for the answer (from Aurélien Rousseau). There is no set date, except for the director of the DGOS (General Directorate of Care Offer), who would like to see us at the end of September.” .”, he added.

In a letter to the Minister of Health, the president of the Action Praticiens Hôpital, Jean-François Cibien, also asks that they be immediately granted this “risk premium” that they demand.

“ARMs are the heart, they are the kneecap of our regulatory system. They have a particular function that, in a few years, has grown considerably (…) I consider that part of (their) demands are legitimate and we will make them work on it in the next few weeks”, promised Aurélien Rousseau in mid-August, without specifying what demands he was referring to.
