“I think that this afternoon the office of the National Assembly is going to take the strongest sanction to sanction this deputy of the National Group,” he said.
This sanction could amount to a maximum of deprivation for two months of half of the parliamentary allowance and the prohibition to “reappear in the Palace of the Assembly until the expiration of the fifteenth day of session following the one in which the sentence was pronounced”. It would then be a censorship with temporary exclusion.
On a possible resignation, the head of Place Beauvau considered that “the National Assembly cannot judge the presence or absence of deputies in the hemicycle”, unlike the “voters”. This question “is posed to [Grégoire de Fournas] conscientiously,” he said.
For his part, the minister intends to sign the online petition launched by Renaissance to ask for the resignation of the RN deputy.

Gérald Darmanin also lambasted the “position of Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen”, after the racist comments of the elected official from their ranks.

On Thursday, the former presidential candidate had estimated that it was a “tough controversy”, alleging that Grégoire de Fournas was talking about “migrants transported by boats by NGOs that Carlos Martens Bilongo mentioned”.
