The presidential majority wants to be firm. The ex-LREM Renaissance party launched an online petition on Thursday night to demand the resignation of MP RN Grégoire de Fournas. The latter had proclaimed “Let him go back to Africa!” in the hemicycle, while the rebel deputy Carlos Martens Bilongo asked the government a question. The petition collected, this Friday morning, a little more than 1000 signatures.
“‘Back to Africa’ – Grégoire de Fournas must resign, Mrs. Le Pen!” reads the petition, launched on the Change.org website.
Denouncing a “racist interpellation”, the signatories demand an “unequivocal condemnation of all the political forces and in the first place of their party”, passing, according to them, through a “resignation without delay” of the RN deputy.
“I am still a deputy”, however, said the interested party this Friday morning on BFMTV. “What I said was entirely within the Republican camp,” he defended himself.
“The question of resignation arises”, for Darmanin
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, of the majority, mentioned a possible resignation of the deputy, this Friday on the set of BFMTV.
“I hope that the office of the National Assembly takes the strongest decision to sanction this deputy. I think the issue of his resignation comes up for him, “he estimated.
The session of the National Assembly was interrupted, a rare event, after the declarations of Grégoire de Fournas. This departure quickly caused an outcry within the political class.the RN deplores a “wild” controversy.
A rally in support of Carlos Martens Bilongo will be held this Friday at 1 pm, near the National Assembly. The deputy RN is summoned by him to the office of the Assembly to explain.
