Sandrine Rousseau elected president of the commission of inquiry into violence in the cultural sector

Green MP Sandrine Rousseau was elected president of this commission in charge of investigating violence, particularly sexual violence, in the cultural sector.

The environmentalist deputy Sandrine Rousseau was elected this Tuesday, October 22, president of the commission of inquiry into violence in cinema, audiovisuals, live shows, fashion and advertising of the National Assembly, the National Assembly announced on its website. .

“The hearings will begin on November 5,” the Parisian deputy announced on the social network

“Establish the responsibilities of each actor”

In fact, this commission of inquiry was created in May, particularly in the context of Judith Godrèche’s multiple speeches following her allegations of rape against the directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon, for acts suffered when she was a child.

The hearings began with the aim of presenting a report in November, but the commission’s work was interrupted after the dissolution of the National Assembly.

The commission is not limited to the issue of sexual violence and seeks more generally “to identify the mechanisms and failures that allow possible abuse and violence and to establish the responsibilities of each actor in this matter.”

In the report presented at the end of its work there will be “a legislative component”, but also “regulatory proposals” or suggestions of “good practices”, promised in May the former president of the commission, Erwan Balanant (Modem).
