The National Assembly examines this Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4, a text that aims to allow employees to participate in the blood, platelets or plasma collections in their working time. This measure was presented last December by Deputy Pierre Cordier and the Les Républicins Group.
A bill that could have fixed Antoine, a young man who decided for the first time to give his blood, but apart from his work hours.
“We have many slots”
“When you leave work at 6 pm, you don’t necessarily want to do it, then on weekends, you have other things to do,” Antoine told BFMTV, who took the passage of blood donation. “This blood test would probably have considered much more if I could take a few hours in the afternoon,” he adds.
On the side of the specialists, authorizing blood analysis during work periods could be excellent news.
“We have many spaces, an appointment that is available during working hours,” explains Frédéric Pacoud, president of the French blood establishment.
“We have many slots available during work hours (…) If we facilitate donation, this will allow more responding to blood, plasma or brochures collections,” he said.
A possible gift but with the permission of the employer
Is it possible to take this blood test when you want during these work hours? For Deputy Lr Pierre Cordier, at the origin of this bill, “there is no doubt that employees leave at any time of the day, without requesting the authorization of their employer.”
The time needed to give blood must also depend on the employer who has the right to reject the exit of his employee “in case of a very important workload in the company,” adds Pierre Cordier.
On average, 10,000 donations are required per pure day to meet the needs of French patients. To give your blood, the establishment of French blood indicates that it is necessary to be between 18 and 70 years old, weigh at least 50 kilos and be equipped with an identity document.
