This Wednesday’s conference of parliamentary leaders marked the general policy debate with the prime minister for September 29 and the discussion on the European “State of the Union” the day before.
At the meeting, the budget calendar had not yet been established, and the government reiterated its intention to submit next year’s state budget on October 10.
According to the spokeswoman for the leaders conference, the meeting rejected the PSD’s request for a parliamentary review regarding the government’s decree containing some of the measures to support families.
“It was not by mutual consent,” the deputy PS, Maria da Luz Rosinha, justified.
Last week, the Social Democrats justified the request for parliamentary scrutiny of the government’s decree-law – which includes the payment in October of the equivalent of half a pension to pensioners – because they considered it “a political fraud”, coupled with the proposal for a law that sets the pension increases for 2023 lower than the legal formula, and which will be discussed in the House of Representatives on Friday.
In terms of planning, the Leaders’ Conference set the parliamentary agenda for the last week of September and the first week of October.
On the 28th, in addition to the debate on the “State of the Union”, the report on the progress of the government’s activities and three petitions were discussed, including one calling for an increase in penalties for crimes against pets .
The next day, the plenary agenda will be full of the bimonthly debate with the Prime Minister, António Costa, and on September 30, two government laws will be discussed on changes to the special codes for consumption taxes and on the fight against terrorism. .
On the same date, BE initiatives for intensive crops and PCP initiatives in public schools will be discussed.
The following week, and after the National Day of October 5, plenary sessions resume on October 6 with a vigorous schedule by the BE on the problems created in home loans due to the rise in interest rates.
On 7 October, the plenary will debate initiatives from various parties, including the PSD on extending free childcare to businesses as early as September, the PS on occupational health and safety supervision for fixed-term employment contracts, the IL on education Superior and enough about amendments to the Criminal Code.
