‘Let’s keep going!’: A Renaissance MP calls on the Nupes to withdraw their pension amendments

La Nupes and Renaissance accuse each other of obstructionism in different texts.

Exchange of new times in the National Assembly. The communist deputy Sébastien Jumel criticized the presidential majority for making “parliamentary obstruction”, words that do not go with Renacimiento in the middle of a debate on pension reform.

Sébastien Jumel denounced this Friday in the chamber a “great political lack” of the majority, which left the seats of the Assembly on Thursday before the vote on a socialist bill against the “dismantling” of EDF.

“They want to blame us for blocking the discussions and when we accelerate, they multiply the acts of parliamentary obstruction, by multiplying the public ballots, by intervening badly and even continuing to tell stories of how the opposition defends its opinion, he added.

TO also charged by other Nupes deputieslike the elect PS Guillaume Garot, denouncing on Thursday on Twitter “suspension after suspension of the session, revocation after motion of order”.

“you exaggerate”

The Renaissance deputy, Fadila Khattabi, made it a point to show her disagreement with these statements on Friday: “To say that it is the majority that is obstructing, you are exaggerating. It is not snakes that you want the French to swallow, it is anacondas! “.

“We’ve been here four days, four days!” exclaimed the president of the social affairs commission. “Even in commission, three days and we did article 2”, “two articles”, he hammered.

Some 20,000 amendments, including nearly 13,000 from LFIs, were tabled before consideration of the bill on the pension reform in the hemicycle of the National Assemblywhich slows down the process.

“We want to talk about the hardships, the situation of women, the employment of the elderly. Frankly, the French are not fooled by your perfidies, your excesses. It is not that it is the majority that blocks, the same!” insisted.

The RN also against “obstruction”

A point of view widely shared by the presidential field, but also by the National Association.

“We have chosen not to make any obstruction. In normal times, this parliamentary technique seems quite petty to me, when we are limited in time, it becomes absurd,” Marine Le Pen said Monday during a press conference.

In effect, the time for the examination of this pension reform is reduced, the text of which will only remain in the National Assembly until February 17, before going to the Senate.

Saying to herself “convinced that there is currently an absence of a majority in this text”, the president of the RN group in the Assembly declared that she hoped that the Nupes “withdraw their thousands of amendments”.

“We maintain our amendments, we are going to make a strategy of parliamentary resistance in motion,” the leader of the LFI deputies, Mathilde Panot, told the press on Tuesday.

“I don’t agree that we go through everything in a hurry on the question of difficulties and alternative financing to please this government.” Because “it is first and foremost the responsibility of the government to want to make it happen.”
