“You must challenge the President of the Republic.” Olivier Marleix, leader of the deputies of Les Républicains (LR), asks Emmanuel Macron to “assume his responsibilities” after being the target of two weapons of honor by the Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti this Tuesday in the chamber of the assembly national.
Previously, the elected representative of Eure-et-Loir had mentioned the accusation of the former lawyer, who will be tried by the Court of Justice of the Republic for “illegal taking of interest”. For his part, the latter had justified his actions by stating that “they did not tend to target Olivier Marleix”, “but the contempt he had for [sa] presumption of innocence”, before finally apologizing to the deputy as well as to the rest of the national representation.

Has the version convinced the principal in question? “No, not really.” “I met her gaze, I can tell you that there was something a bit personal,” she confesses to the RFI microphone.
“All this is unworthy of a member of the government,” he said. “It’s very clear”.
Even so, the regulations of the National Assembly concern the deputies, and not the members of the government. In other words, Éric Dupond-Moretti cannot receive a sanction under it. “Only the Court of Justice of the Republic can [le] judge, but that’s good Monsieur Dupond-Moretti already has an appointment with [elle]“, ironically Olivier Marleix.
The parliamentarian, however, refuses to explicitly ask for his resignation. Other members of the national representation, such as Marine Le Pen, have done so. For his part, Olivier Marleix is content to return the ball to the Elysée garden.
“I don’t want anything, I want the President of the Republic to assume responsibility for this type of conduct,” he explains.
“No form of complacency between the government and us”
Ironically, this sequence, however, contains good news for the elected official: it allows him to distance himself from the presidential camp, while the right, in favor of pension reform, is often described as a “government crutch” for the other objections . A window of opportunity that Olivier Marleix does not miss.
“This episode illustrates that there is no form of complacency, friendship, cordiality between the government and us. If we vote for this pension reform it is really because we consider it necessary for the recovery of the country”. I’m not sure the left and the far right hear it with the same ear.
