A goal from Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo guaranteed Al Nassr’s 2-1 victory against Al Tai this Friday, in a match on the eighth day of the Saudi Football League.
Al Nassr, coached by the Portuguese Luís Castro and with Ronaldo and Otávio among the starters, took the lead with a goal from the Brazilian Talisca, in the 32nd minute, after an assist from the Portuguese forward.
In the second half, Al Tai tied at 79, with a goal by Dutchman Virgil Misidjan, with Al Nassr scoring the winning goal at 87, by Cristiano Ronaldo, converting a penalty, with the striker scoring the tenth goal in the championship this season. .
The champion Al Ittihad, coached by Nuno Espírito Santo, drew 0-0 on their visit to Al Faia and could lose the lead in the competition against Jorge Jesús’s Al Hilal, who will play this Friday against Al Shabab.
As for Filipe Gouveia’s Al Hazem, they lost at home 3-1 against Al Taawon, and the foreign team took the lead through the Gambian Musa Barrow, in the 59th minute.
The home team tied at 72, with the Portuguese Tozé converting a penalty, but Al Taawon scored twice more, through Abdulfattah Adam (86) and Sattam Al Roqi (90+14), guaranteeing the victory.
Al Ittihad leads the championship with 19 points, the same as Al Taawon, while Al Nassr is third with 18 and Al Hilal fourth with 17, but with one less match played, which could give them the isolated leadership of the competition in case of victory.
Al Hazem occupies last place, with just three points, and has not yet won in the Saudi League.
