Einer Rubio (Movistar) has won the 13th stage of the Tour of Italy, which was shortened due to bad weather. So far Britain’s Geraint Thomas (INEOS) has led the individual general classification, despite the climb in Crans-Montana.
Rubio, age 25, covered the 74.8 kilometers between Le Châble and Crans-Montana, in Switzerland, in 2:16.21 hours, beating Frenchman Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ), second, and Ecuadorian Jefferson Cepeda (EF Education)-Easy Post), third, co-breakaway of the day.
In the general accounts, the shortening of the stage, which should have covered 199 kilometers, ultimately led to no attacks or moments that created time gaps in the first places, with Thomas leading by two seconds ahead of Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo -Visma), second, and 22 for the Portuguese João Almeida (UAE Emirates), third and youth leader.
