Exclusive Bino das trivelas. Memories of the first cup won by Sp. Braga

Albino Aguiar de Sousa gained fame with a goal against Benfica. He was forever known as Bino das trivelas, as he was part of the team that won the first Sp. Braga, in 1966. He represented Braga between 1956 and 1974 – a total of 125 games and 28 goals – during which time he was part of the team that rose to the I Division in 1964. The victory in Jamor, against V. Setúbal, also allowed him to be in the first presence of the Minho people in European competitions (Taça das Cupas).

May 22, 1966 was etched in the memory of the former player, after all at Sp. Braga won the first trophy at national level. “We had a terrible front line. Perrichón, Adão, Estêvão and me. Today, under these circumstances, we dealt cards and played for the title. We went to the final with V. Setúbal, which was a fantastic team, there were five or six players who went to the national team. They had humiliated us in the last round of the championship (8-1) and therefore the final was a great achievement,” Bino, the former number 7 of Braga, recalled to DN.
