The French regularly shine in traditional sports but they also shine in virtual sports. And the 2023 edition of the Olympic Esports Series, the Olympic Games of electronic sports, proved it well. This year nine sports were represented (archery, baseball, chess, cycling, dance, sailing, tennis, taekwondo and motor sports). And cocorico: France is, among other things, Olympic sailing champion.
The Frenchmen Tim Carpentier and Baptiste Renaut have each distinguished themselves in their category, the first in the Olympic inshore sailing event and the other in the offshore regatta. The tests were carried out on virtual regattathat allows hundreds of thousands of water sports enthusiasts to compete against the best sailors in the world.

For Tim Carpentier, it was all done during competition week (June 22-25 in Singapore). The Frenchman led all seven qualifying races that he had to complete before reaching the final race.
For Baptiste Renaut, the deal was done a bit longer since the race took place over a month (30 days, 13 hours, 27 minutes and 11 seconds precisely) at the beginning of the year. This week of the Olympic Esports Series, however, allowed her to win back the trophy from him. The Francilien was also well surrounded on the podium as he was accompanied by two other Frenchmen: Xavier Coquiard and Aurélie Martin.
A 100% tricolor podium that illustrates the good form of the French delegation in this Olympiad of the game. In addition to sailing, other Frenchmen have established themselves in other sports.
