This is the second time in a few months that Thales, a French company specialized in aerospace and defense, has suffered a data hack. The Russian-speaking group of hackers Lockbit 3.0 claims both cyberattacks. Thales told BFM that data hacked in late October had been shared on the dark web on November 10, confirming information previously reported by franceinfo.
Thales specifies “that at this time there is no impact on its activity” and ensures that it has not been the subject of “any genuine ransom demand”.
At the moment, Thales security teams are analyzing the published data and the group ensures that it remains “attentive to any data theft, systematically mobilizing its teams of security experts, the protection of the data of our interest groups It’s our top priority.”
The hackers had specified that the data would be published based on a count expiring on November 7. According to them, the Thales group “has greatly neglected the rules of confidentiality.”
Hackers active in France
Among the hacked data are “highly sensitive, confidential and high-risk” documents citing company operations, business documents, accounting records, customer files, software, according to the hackers.
This Russian-speaking group Lockbit 3.0 is not on its first try with Thales. The company had already suffered a cyberattack, particularly on its computer code, earlier in the year. Lockbit 3.0 is active in France, as it is at the origin of the cyber attack on the Corbeil-Essonnes hospital. The hackers demanded a ransom of 10 million euros and then published medical data of patients and staff.
