According to him, the investigation carried out in Safari fell for the first time last April, in particular due to the popularity of the generative AI. According to him, the search engines in AI, such as the search for chatgpt, perplexity or claude, will eventually replace conventional search engines such as Google. Therefore, Apple plans to add them as safari options when they have improved more.
“Before AI, I had the feeling that no other (search engine that Google) was valid. Today, I think the potential is much greater, because the new actors attack the problem differently,” he added.
A decision in this sense could significantly reduce Google’s domination of the online research market. As a reminder, Google is the predetermined search engine of the safari browser. In 2022, Google donated not less than $ 20 billion to Apple to maintain this hegemony. An amount that still represents 17.5% of Apple’s operational gain.
Despite his statements, the manager wishes to keep his agreement with Google. The company is also preparing to conclude an agreement with Apple to integrate its GEMINI AI in the iPhone. This collaboration should see daylight at the end of 2025.
