Amazon Prime Days: Esthefy attempts by email are multiplying

Amazon Prime days coincide with an increase in Phishing email. The scammers intend to be Amazon to steal the identifiers of their users.

The first days are back, the scammers too. In an email sent on Monday, July 7, the platform warns its customers against fraudulent emails that are passed through the company.

Amazon sales usually sound the resurgence of Phishing campaigns (or phishing). Scammers take advantage of general hysteria to try to turn to Internet users.

Amazon, the favorite coverage of scammers

Hacks has become a real scourge constantly increasing. These emails usurpan the identity of large companies, organizations or individuals to deceive a user and steal their personal data, without suspecting.

A report from Action of the Public Interest Group against Cybermalvence – Rég for the French State – reports a 22% increase in assistance investigation against this type of scam in France.

Ent the identity of the Amazon site. Phishing campaigns often mention the Prime Video or Prime family subscription.

Therefore, scammers make customers of the platform believe that they will have to spend an astronomical sum (around 400 euros) to continue their subscription. A link is included in the email to “cancel the order” within 5 days. This button refers to a false Amazon page that aims to recover user identifiers.

How do I know if the email I have received is false?

To find out if you have received a Phishing email, several clues can betray the deception. Starting with the name of the email address: Amazon, like many companies, always uses the same email address format when communicated. Just look for the sender’s address ends with “@amazon.fr” or by “@amazon.com”. If this is not the case, there is a good possibility that it is a false direction.

Sometimes you should be careful, scammers can use very similar characters to discreetly pretend to be Amazon. For example, they can replace an “m” with an “R+N” to create false addresses in “@arnazon.fr”.

Another element allows you to know if it is a scam. If the link in the email returns to an address that does not start with “https://www.amazon.fr/” or by “https://www.amazon.com/”, there is a sure bet that it is a disguised site. Keep in mind that, however, it is recommended not to go to your sites.

In case of doubt, the best way to avoid linking is to go directly through the Site or the official Amazon application to administer your account.
