“It is a cruel accessory”: the Peta wind that faces “Mario Kart World” and the character of Meuh Meuh

The Association for the Defense of the Animal Cause sent a letter to Nintendo to have an accessory of one of the protagonists of the last “Mario Kart” retired.

It is a video game, but there are still limits. La Peta, an association that seeks to make animals treatment more ethical, is not happy with the representation of one of the playable characters of Mario de Mario Kart.

The last episode until the date of the Juicy franchise in Nintendo has more than 50 characters that can be unlocked and embodied in a semi-open world. Together with the traditional Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Bowser or Toad, in fact we can find more unexpected characters, including the cow Meuh Meuh.

Real star of this Mario de Mario KartMeuh Meuh conquered the planet, to the point of seeing that the “cow clans” will naturally be created in online games.

The discord ring

For the PETA, it is not so much the representation of a cow in the controls of a kart that poses a problem, but the design chosen by the designers of the title for the character. In a letter sent directly to Nintendo, the PETA denounces the presence of a ring in the nostrils of the animal.

Because contrary to what one might think, the ring in question is anything less natural for cows. In fact, it is used by the dairy industry and meat to “exploit” and “control” animals until their killing, according to Peta. It can also make it possible to separate your mother’s calves so that they do not come to drink milk, which will do more for producers.

The PETA especially points out that these rings, “cruel accessories”, are installed after a hole is drilled in the nostrils of animals, “which can cause colors and permanent discomfort.” Therefore, the association expects this object to be simply withdrawn from Mario de Mario Kart.

If the PETA is aware that it is “only” a video game, however, you want to alert about the trivialization of what you consider as acts of torture. On its website, the organization offers several “ethical” games in favor of the animal cause. Among them, a “parody” of Pokémon Where creatures are not driven and locked in Pokéballs.
