The competition was hard. The first edition of the World Humanoid Robotics Games ended this Sunday, August 17 at the Beijing Skating Stadium. Games that have been marked by images of humanoid robots that run, jump, dance, fight and play football.
In this competition, 280 teams from 16 countries met during athletics, gymnastics, football, boxing or even domestic tests. Unfortunately, no French team has participated in this 2025 edition, but some of our European neighbors (Germany, Netherlands, Portugal) managed to inform some medals.
Chinese domination
The organizing country was up to expectations and could take advantage of a good number of medals. As expected, the Chinese leader in Robotics, the company of Soucere, leaves with the greatest number of titles, says The Global Times.
In particular, it has not extended in athletics, where their robots won the gold at 1,500 meters, 400 meters, 4×100 meters and hedges of 100 meters, as reported by the Global Times. The H1 robot will also have been the source of a sequence that has become viral where we see it overthrow people on the track.
The legendary 100 -meter event was won by the Beijing Humanoid Innovation Center. His Tiangong Ultra Robot traveled the track in 21.5 seconds (we are still far from the 9.58 seconds of Usain Bolt). The fruit of the intense training, we had already seen the humanoid participate in the Beijing marathon in April 2025.
Other medalists, this time in football. It is the local team of the University of Tsinghua in Beijing who won the football tournament in 5 against 5. An event in which the Germans defended themselves well by winning the silver medal. The agronomic university of China won gold in the 3 against 3.
Other Chinese companies have been able to demonstrate their worth in other disciplines. In gymnastics and length of length, it is Noetix Robotics what comes out with gold, according to the Globe and Mail. According to the Xinhua agency, the Humanoid of Robothera made the highest jump (95 cm), which allowed him to gain gold in this discipline. Finally, the Beijing Dance Academy won the gold for its robots choreography disguised as terracotta soldiers.
To date, we do not know the medal table in its entirety. However, no American or European team has communicated to obtain a gold medal.
New Robotics leader
Again, these games have highlighted the progress made by China in terms of robotics. Once again he affirms his place as a leader in this sector along with the United States. In early August, the country organized the World Robotics Conference. Beijing also opened, on August 8, the first shopping center specialized in the sale of humanoid robots.
Perhaps this first edition will encourage other teams from other countries to participate in the next competition. According to CCTV news of the Chinese media, Beijing is already preparing the second edition in August 2026, satisfied with these first games.
