If you are going to spend a stay in Szczecin, Poland, it is not about going first to the Castle of the Duke of Szczecin or the Waly Chrobrego promenade. The tourist attraction of this German border town is quite different: a black and white cat.
Gacek (which means “long-eared bat” in Polish) has thus achieved the perfect 5-star rating on Google Maps, with over 2,600 reviews, and has become one of the must-see places in the Polish city.

And Google reviews are full of praise for the feline, whose house in the middle of the street has become a crossing point. “I am very fortunate to have come and met this gentle and distinguished creature. I recommend everyone to come see his Excellency and share this experience that I will treasure for many years,” an Internet user raves about the example.
This notoriety has lasted for several years. If Gacek has been installed on the street for almost ten years, his popularity rating has increased considerably after a report prepared by the city council and broadcast on YouTube in 2020.
However, the cat is not abandoned. Nurtured by many locals and tourists alike, Gacek has gained considerable weight since its inception nearly 10 years ago. As indicated by the Polish media Notes from Poland, the owners of the store located next to the feline’s residence even had to put up a sign asking passers-by to no longer feed it directly, but to leave the treats in boxes. Rewards that will be delivered progressively to the King of Szczecin.
On February 19, however, the feline’s Instagram account announced the disappearance of the Google Maps point of interest dedicated to him, apparently due to too many fictitious ads posted as a result of his media coverage.
