A crime of unspeakable cruelty. All members of a Sikh family were found dead Wednesday afternoon in an orchard in California. Jasleen Kaur, 27, her husband Jasdeep Singh, 36, her eight-month-old daughter, Aroohi Dheri, and Singh’s brother, Amandeep, had been missing since Monday, kidnapped from their trucking business.
Economic reasons?
The main suspect, a 48-year-old man named Jesús Salgado, is a criminal already known to the police. The man, who tried to withdraw money with one of the family’s credit cards, tried to take his own life, surrounded by police, and is currently hospitalized. According to local authorities, the man is still violent and the motives for this quadruple murder have not yet been established.
Earlier in the week, local police released a video showing the kidnapper kidnapping the entire family under duress.
“There is a special place in hell for this guy, and what we are facing is horrible. There are no words to describe the anger I feel and the absurdity of this incident,” Merced County Sheriff Vern Varnke said.
According to various sources, pending official confirmation, economic motivations remain. On the other hand, the local police continue to investigate whether or not the author benefited from the help of an accomplice.
