Russian drone attack leaves two injured in kyiv

A wave of attacks carried out by Russia with explosive drones hit kyiv this morning, leaving at least two people injured, according to Ukrainian authorities.

“So far there are two victims in the Solomyansky district. Both received medical assistance on site,” the mayor of the Ukrainian capital wrote on the Telegram messaging platform.

Vitali Klitschko said an apartment building in this district was damaged by falling debris from drones and that rescue teams were still working to try to pull two women from the rubble.

Several fires were reported in Solomyansky, including in a kindergarten, the mayor of kyiv added. Remains of drones shot down by the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense also fell in the Pechersky district.

Authorities in the Ukrainian capital did not provide an estimate of the number of drones used in the Russian attack, but said they were Shahed devices, manufactured by Iran.

Air alarms also sounded this morning in other regions of Ukraine, including Cherkasy, Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov, Poltava, Dnipro, Mikolaiv, Kirovohrad and Kherson, according to the Ukrainian news agency Unian.

On Friday, Russia shelled 120 inhabited towns in the border regions or near the front in Chernigiv, Sumi, Kharkiv, Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporijia, Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson, the Ukrainian General Staff said.

The same source indicated that kyiv prevented 11 Russian attacks on Friday in southern Bakhmut, 20 in Avdivka and 14 in Marinka, towns located in the eastern region of Donetsk.

In Kupiansk, northeast of Kharkiv, Ukraine says it repelled three Russian attacks.

The military offensive launched on February 24, 2022 by Russia in Ukraine caused, according to the most recent UN data, the worst refugee crisis in Europe since the Second World War (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion – justified by the Russian president with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for the security of Russia – was condemned by most of the international community, which has responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing political and economic measures.

The conflict continues with bloody fighting in the eastern region, where Moscow’s forces carry out massive attacks in Kupiansk, Marinka and Avdiivka, while Kiev’s troops repel these attacks and try to advance in the southern region, on the Zaporizhia and Zaporizhia fronts. Kherson.
