The return to face-to-face classes, after two years of distance learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has been marked by fear and incidents of violence among high school students, teachers and parents.
“We have to speak in a school context. It is the violence that settles in the neighborhoods that is represented. This violence is reflected in the various bodies of society. We have to take care of it”declared the mayor of Penalolén, Carolina Leitão.
Instances of physical and psychological abuse among students in Chile have increased by 22% compared to pre-pandemic levels, according to data from the Superintendence of Education.
