Since Tuesday, April 22, a fire has devastated more than 5,000 hectares in the state of New Jersey. At the moment, the authorities have announced that they have controlled the fire halfway, while several thousand people have been evacuated as caution.
According to local media, the fire was declared in the pines of this state of the East Coast, it was already placed on drought alert in March. As for the cause of this extraordinary fire, an investigation is still underway.
An always active fire
At the moment, the American press reports that no one has been injured, while some wait patiently to go home. This Thursday, local authorities announced that 5,300 hectares were affected, while the fire would be contained in 50%.
During its latest report published in its X account, the New Jersey forest fire service reports that 20 buildings are still threatened and that several roads remain blocked.
But the counting of material losses has already begun. In addition to thousands of hectares of a reduction to nothing, a commercial building, as well as vehicles and some buildings have not resisted what the authorities have called the second most serious since the last two decades.
This Thursday, 5,000 evacuated inhabitants were allowed to return home. The local sources that cover the areas affected by these fires require the greatest caution, especially due to the fumes that emanate from the old houses.
